I Need a GREAT Real Estate Site!
Our Manifesto
- People love browsing through Real Estate Listings, but nobody makes it easy to do so. It should be FUN and SIMPLE and INTUITIVE.
- Take me right to the listings – don’t make me fill out forms or accept a EULA before I can even get into the good stuff!
- Searching shouldn’t be complicated. Why does it always seem so complicated?
- Map Browsing is neat, but not super-useful – it has no business being the primary form of navigation.
- The photos are the best part! Let’s see them first. And let’s make them big!
- People don’t read big blocks of text. Brief summaries on the main listings page only! For bonus points, let’s try to drive an interest in good copywriting.
- Flash Slideshows SUCK!
- Signup should be easy. Get out of the users way!
- Forms should be simple. Even when collecting complicated data.
- Use language people understand – arbitrary neighbourhood boundaries/names make no sense! Use the language people use to describe their neighbourhoods – if that means some neighbourhoods have overlapping names, that’s OK! (parts of Wellington Village are also Hintonburg)
- It should be easy to SHARE listings. Simple URLs for passing around, attractive printable listings, social buttons (though let’s not get too carried away with the clutter).
- It should be easy to GET listings. RSS, Twitter, Email Alerts, Mobile Browsing and Mobile Applications - Let people get the info they want however they want it.
Something better is on the way...
